TRIP DATES: October 20-27th
CAST OF CHARACTERS: Donna and Joe Sharick, Darla Rice and Deb Golub (sisters) and various other good friends we will join along the way!
RESORT: Disney's Old Key West - 2 BR Villa
The planning for this trip goes WAY back to last year. Darla asked me if Joe and I would like to join her and her sister, Deb on a Food and Wine Festival trip! I go to Disney quite often but Joe is usually the one to stay home and hold down the fort so I was very excited to tell him that we had been invited by Darla to the Food and Wine Festival, which happens to be his favorite time to go! The only requirement of Joe is he has to make us all breakfast each morning; which he readily agreed to because he does that at home and one of the benefits of the luxurious 2 br villa at Old Key West is the large kitchen; so he is looking forward to being our breakfast chef for the week!
We do not really have daily plans except for a few restaurant reservations, Whispering Canyon our first night for the 4 of us, our DVC group get together for 12-14 at Trails End on Sunday night and a Sci Fi Dine Inn reservation on Tuesday for the 4 of us. Other than that, we will Food and Wine it around the world and play it by "ear". Our very last day, check out day, Joe and I are having breakfast at Kona Cafe for Tonga Toast and will head over to Magic Kingdom for the afternoon to see if we can snag a Fantasyland preview. Our flight is not til 7:30 that evening so we can stay and play a bit longer. All during the week, we hope to meet up with a group of friends from our online family that will also be in the world at the same time. This will be easy to do because once the weekdays hit, we will be eating and drinking our way around the World Showcase every chance we get! We are all looking forward to seeing each other since it has been awhile that all our trips aligned this way.
Very early Saturday morning, 6:45 to be exact, our Southwest flight will be leaving Pittsburgh, bound for Orlando! Darla will be staying offsite that Friday, so she will be able to get over and check us in and we will meet her at OKW, hopefully before 10! We are VERY excited for this trip! Joe and I both need this vacation, now more than ever. We are still hurting very much from losing our little Sandie girl and I am hoping Disney will put a smile back on our faces again and Sandie will be with me in my heart...somewhere she will ALWAYS live. Also, a couple of our good friends had to cancel their trip last week due to very serious health issues and while we will miss them THIS time, we know there will be future trips in all of our futures, God willing.
